Timothy M. Broas is an American lawyer and diplomat who served as the United States Ambassador to the Netherlands from March 19, 2014 to February 12, 2016. ​

​Ambassador Broas was nominated by President Barack Obama to be the U.S. Ambassador to the Kingdom of the Netherlands on in 2014. ​

​Ambassador Broas was a partner in the litigation department of the Washington, DC office of Winston & Strawn, LLP. He was named in the 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014 editions of Best Lawyers in America.​

In 2010, President Obama appointed Ambassador Broas to the Board of Trustees of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. The Wilson Center, created by Congress in 1968, is a nonpartisan institute for advanced study and a neutral forum for open, serious, and informed dialogue among preeminent thinkers and policymakers.​

Ambassador Broas was named to the Board of Trustees of Partners in Health in 2012. He was appointed by Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley to the Board of Trustees of St. Mary’s College of Maryland in 2011 and was selected as a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America in 2010. In 2005, Mr. Broas was appointed to the Board of Visitors of Mount Vernon by Virginia Governor Mark Warner and was reappointed in 2009 by Governor Tim Kaine.
