Salaheddine Mezouar is a seasoned Moroccan statesman and business leader. Mezouar was elected President of the National Rally of Independents (RNI) in January 2010 and has served in the House of Representatives since the 2011 legislative elections.

Earlier, Mezouar held successive cabinet posts: Minister of Economy and Finance (2007-2012) and Minister of Industry, Trade, and Economic Upgrade (2004-2007). Before entering government, Mezouar steered Morocco’s textile sector, chairing the Moroccan Association of Textile and Clothing Industries (AMITH) in 2002 and the Textiles and Leather Federation within the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM).

Mezouar began his career in the private sector as Administrator-Director General of a textile company, then served as chargé de mission at the Office of Ports’ Exploitation from 1986 to 1991, gaining early exposure to Morocco’s strategic infrastructure.

Mezouar is an Honorary Senior Advisor to the Institute.
