The aim of this project is to help provide access to remedies to business and human rights disputes within the United Nations’ guiding principles in this regard. The development of so called The Hague Rules on Business and Human Rights Arbitration could aid in resolving conflicts between multinational corporations and people who claim their human rights have been harmed by a company or its supply chain.

The project was led by Prof. Jan Eijsbouts of Maastricht University, who teaches Corporate Social Responsibility and has acted as legal adviser to the Business and Human Rights Initiative of the UN Global Compact Network Netherlands. The Project Team is headed by Prof. Bruno Simma, former Judge at the International Court of Justice and Arbitrator at the Iran-United States Claims Tribunal in The Hague.
